Bin Trolleys

Bin Trolleys: Mobile Parts Bin Storage for the Shop Floor

A bin trolley puts small-parts storage where the work is. Instead of walking to a static rack for every fixing, the bins travel with the job — which is why they earn their keep on assembly benches, maintenance rounds and line-side kitting far more often than the price would suggest.

A note on terminology first. These are workshop parts bin trolleys, not wheelie-bin trolleys. If you arrived looking for a way to move or store waste bins, see our outdoor shelters range and the bin shelters and bin stores buying guide instead.

GPC Galvanised Bin Trolleys

Manufactured in the UK by GPC Industries.

  • Model SDBT03 — 930 mm high x 1040 mm wide x 610 mm deep.
  • Capacity: designed to suit 12 x SB003 bins.
  • Top shelf: galvanised steel — a working surface as well as a shelf, and one that shrugs off oil, coolant and washdown better than a painted finish.
  • Frame: welded steel with bin retainers, so bins stay put when the trolley is moved rather than sliding forward on the first sharp stop.
  • Castors: two fixed and two swivel, 100 mm nylon.

Bins Are Ordered Separately

This is the detail to get right at order stage: the steel bins are sold as separate items under product SKU SB00BIN. The trolley is supplied as the frame and shelf. Work out your bin count and sizes at the same time as the trolley, so the order arrives complete and the retainers are actually holding something.

Where a Bin Trolley Beats a Static Rack

  1. The job moves and the parts should move with it. Maintenance, line-side assembly, vehicle prep and installation work all suffer from walking time more than from storage capacity.
  2. The layout is not settled. A trolley can be re-sited in seconds; a fixed rack commits floor space.
  3. Two shifts need the same parts in different places. One trolley beats two racks.

Where the bins genuinely stay in one place, a static bin rack or a shelved unit is cheaper per bin. Our guide to static versus mobile storage works through the decision, and small parts storage: bins, tote racks and shelving compares the formats.
