Loading Bay & Dock Equipment

Loading Bay & Dock Equipment

Everything here does one job: make the point where vehicles meet your building safer and faster. The loading bay is the highest-risk area of most sites — reversing HGVs, dock edges, dark trailers and forklifts crossing a gap — and each product in this range removes one specific hazard. The equipment is by Thorworld Industries, with most products designed and manufactured in the UK at their Chesterfield factory.

Bridge the gap

Dockboards and dockplates span dock to vehicle — dockboards for forklift traffic (capacities to 4,550 kg, with steel side curbs and locking legs), dockplates for pallet trucks, roll cages and pedestrians. Both follow the BS EN 1398:2009 approach of a minimum 100 mm engagement onto the vehicle bed. No raised dock at all? Container access ramps take forklifts from ground level into containers and trailers.

Stop unplanned movement

Wheel chocks in rubber, steel, aluminium and plastic stop vehicles rolling during loading, with grip-faced rubber chocks for HGV work and a 5 m retaining chain to keep chocks at the bay. Trailer safety supports — rated to 36,500 kg — hold split-coupled semi-trailers so they can't tip or collapse while a forklift is inside.

Protect the structure, see the load

Dock bumpers in rubber, nylon and 100 × 100 mm D-section absorb the daily impacts of reversing trailers before they damage the dock face or the vehicle. LED dock lights (30 W, 3,300 lumen, IP65) light the inside of the trailer so operatives can actually see what they're moving. Fixings, washers, dockplate accessories and spares are in loading bay accessories.

Where to start

If you're specifying a bay from scratch — or fixing one that's had a near miss — read our loading bay safety guide and the guide to loading without a dock. Or call us with your vehicle types and dock heights and we'll spec it against the real capacity tables.
