An electric pallet truck — also sold as a powered pallet truck, an electric pump truck, an electric pallet jack or a motorised pallet truck — does the work a manual truck makes you do by hand. A battery and motor drive both the lift and the travel, so the operator simply walks alongside and steers. For frequent moves, long distances, heavy pallets or repeated vehicle unloading, powered pallet trucks cut operator fatigue and speed the job up dramatically.

Rate the truck to your heaviest realistic pallet, not your average one. The range breaks down like this:

1,200–1,500kg — covers standard UK and Euro pallet work in most stockrooms and warehouses. This is where the VULCAN lithium trucks and the FPPT10 sit.

Standard, premium or heavy duty?
The standard FPPT10 fully powered truck handles 1,500kg on conventional UK pallets and suits general stockroom and warehouse duty. The Premium FPPRPT20 conforms to EN 1757-1, carries 2,000kg and uses a split body design with a compact footprint for tight aisles. Where loads genuinely exceed a normal truck — steel, stone, drinks pallets — the heavy duty 5 tonne fully powered truck runs a 3kW drive motor with electronic steering and polyurethane wheels, and can be specified with a ride-on platform and protection arms for long travel runs.
Extra-long trucks (ELFPPT series) carry two pallets in line or single extended loads, and are made to order in any length, width and capacity. They use a brushless 1.0kW drive motor with a 0.8kW lift motor and a quick-swap lithium battery that charges in around two hours.
Lithium or lead-acid?
Lead-acid remains the cheaper entry point and is fine for single-shift use where the truck can charge overnight. Lithium suits multi-shift and high-utilisation sites: it takes opportunity charging during breaks without damaging the cells, needs no watering or equalisation, and gives consistent power right down to the end of the charge. The VULCAN lithium trucks (FPPT30, FPPT40) conform to EN 1757-1, have 48mm fork width, 115mm raised and 80mm lowered fork heights, an open chassis for easy battery removal, and a CURTIS non-polar speed controller. Electric high lift pallet trucks
A high lift pallet truck raises the pallet to a comfortable working height rather than just clearing the floor — useful for pick-and-pack, assembly and order-build stations where operators would otherwise bend all day. The VULCAN PHL range conforms to EN 1757-2, has 1,170mm forks at 160mm wide with an 85mm lowered height, runs a 12V/60Ah battery with charger included and a 0.8kW lifting motor, and includes both manual and electric lift and lower for precise positioning. Do you need a licence for an electric pallet truck?
No — there is no statutory licence for pedestrian-operated powered pallet trucks in the UK. What the law does require, under PUWER 1998, is that operators receive adequate training and instruction on the specific equipment they use, and that the truck is maintained in efficient working order. Most employers meet this with in-house instruction plus an accredited operator course, and by recording pre-use checks — brakes, horn, forks, battery condition and emergency reverse — at the start of each shift. How much does an electric pallet truck cost?
UK prices split into rough bands. Imported entry-level walk-behind trucks typically sell around £1,000–£1,500. UK-made trucks with EN 1757 conformity and plated capacities — the range on this page — run from £1,468.44 for the VULCAN lithium walk-behind to £3,689.34 for the Premium 2-tonne unit. Specialist machines cost more: reel handling from £7,182.60 and the 5 tonne truck at £14,845.92. Forklift-brand ride-on trucks from the OEM dealers sit above all of these. Buying or hiring?
We sell only — KC Supply doesn't operate a hire fleet. Hire makes sense for a one-off job or a short seasonal peak; for anything approaching daily use, purchase pays for itself quickly and the truck is always on site when you need it. What we don't sell
No semi electric pallet trucks (manual lift with powered drive) — every truck on this page is fully powered for both lift and travel. No dedicated ride on pallet trucks or low-level order pickers — the only ride-on option in the range is the platform specified on the 5 tonne truck; for ride-on fleet equipment, talk to the forklift OEMs. No second-hand or refurbished trucks — new equipment only, with the manufacturer's warranty.

Powered trucks are also listed by some suppliers as pallet engines or pallet movers — the same walk-alongside machine under a different name. If you need to lift pallets onto racking rather than just move them, a pallet stacker is the right machine instead; if you're towing wheeled loads rather than lifting pallets, look at electric tugs.
