Industrial Stairs
Industrial stairs give you a proper staircase rather than a ladder: wide treads, a handrail each side and a working platform at the top, so a person can climb carrying something and stand safely once they get there. This collection covers the Klime-Ezee industrial stair range supplied by KC Supply.
Klime-Ezee KE industrial stairs
The Klime-Ezee KE SWL 300 kg unit is part of the Klime-Ezee Industrial Range, which has been in production for over 20 years. Published specifications are:
- Safe working load: 300 kg
- Platform height: 750 mm to 3750 mm
- Platform size: 550 mm (W) × 400 mm (D)
- Tread size: 550 mm (W) × 200 mm (D)
- Angle of ascent: 60°
- Fully welded, ready-to-use construction
Rear legs splay out at roughly 3° for stability. A rear toe plate is standard, and units of 7 to 15 treads carry toe plates on all three sides of the platform. Braking is by central or side handle lever acting on the front castors. Options include a rear gate and flush back wheels for a customised safe exit, plus platform length extensions, tread types, exit configurations and colours.
Stairs, steps or a platform?
The 60° angle of ascent is the distinguishing feature. It is shallower than a ladder and steeper than a fixed building staircase, which makes industrial stairs the right answer for repeated access to a mezzanine edge, a machine deck, high racking or a stores level — anywhere someone climbs several times a shift and needs a hand free. For lower, occasional access, mobile safety steps are quicker to reposition. Where the job is standing and working at height rather than getting from A to B, a podium step or access tower is the better tool.
Specifying and looking after them
Measure the platform height you actually need to reach, not the height of the structure — then check the footprint the stairs will occupy at 60°, and confirm the exit arrangement (gate, flush back wheels, direction of travel). Klime-Ezee recommend a maintenance inspection every six months; under PUWER, work equipment must in any case be maintained in efficient working order and inspected where safety depends on the installation and conditions of use. This is a summary, not legal advice.
