Pallet trucks are the workhorse of any warehouse, loading bay or production line — the quickest, lowest-cost way to move palletised loads short distances. At KC Supply we stock both manual hand pallet trucks and fully powered electric pallet trucks, with capacities from 2 tonnes up to 5 tonnes, so you can match the truck to the weight, distance and frequency of the job.
Manual hand pallet trucks
A manual pallet truck (also called a hand pallet truck or pump truck) is raised by pumping the tiller and moved by the operator pushing or pulling. It needs no charging, no fuel and almost no maintenance, which makes it the default choice for occasional lifts, lighter loads and tighter budgets. Our standard and heavy-duty manual trucks suit UK and Euro pallets, and the GPC VULCAN range adds extra-heavy-duty and stainless-steel/galvanised models for wet, hygienic or corrosive environments such as food production, chemical handling and cold stores.
Electric & fully powered pallet trucks
An electric pallet truck takes the physical effort out of moving heavy or frequent loads. Powered lift and drive mean the operator simply steers, cutting fatigue and the risk of musculoskeletal strain over a shift. They cost more up front and need charging and a little more servicing, but on a busy bay that pays back quickly in speed and reduced injury risk. Our GPC VULCAN powered range includes standard and premium fully powered trucks, lithium-battery models for fast opportunity charging and longer life, weigh-scale pallet trucks that weigh the load as you lift, electric high-lift trucks that double as a low-level work platform, and rough-terrain versions for yards and uneven ground.
Choosing the right pallet truck
-
Load weight: match capacity to your heaviest regular pallet. We stock 2-tonne and 2.5-tonne everyday trucks through to 5-tonne extra-heavy-duty models.
-
Fork size: 540mm-wide forks suit standard UK/Euro pallets; wider forks and extra-long forks handle oversized or twin loads.
-
Frequency & distance: occasional, short moves favour a manual truck; high-volume or long runs favour electric to protect your team.
-
Environment: galvanised or stainless steel for wet and hygienic areas; rough-terrain wheels for outdoor and uneven surfaces.
-
Special tasks: weigh-scale trucks for despatch and goods-in; high-lift trucks for order picking and assembly; reel-handling trucks for paper, film and cable reels.
Do you need a licence to use a pallet truck?
You do not need a formal licence to operate a manual or pedestrian electric pallet truck in the UK, but employers must provide adequate training under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations. Powered trucks in particular should only be used by trained operators who understand braking, load stability and pedestrian safety.
