McCue makes impact-protection products for warehouses, distribution centres and retail back-of-house. KC Supply supplies the McCue SafeStop GuardRail system in the UK.
SafeStop GuardRail
SafeStop is a floor-mounted, modular barrier built from uprights and rails, designed to separate people from vehicles and to keep a glancing forklift blow from becoming structural damage. The uprights use McCue's shock-absorbing post technology, so impact energy is absorbed and the vehicle is redirected rather than stopped dead against a rigid steel post — which is what tends to transfer the damage into the floor slab, the fixings and the truck.
Because it is modular, the system configures to the layout you actually have: aisle ends, pedestrian walkways, racking runs, doorways and pinch points. Two add-ons extend it — SafeStop FloorGuard for low-level, floor-level protection, and the SafeStop Spinner for deflecting glancing blows in high-traffic corners. Materials are tested for corrosion resistance, UV stability and impact performance, and the system is verified through third-party lab testing, empirical testing and architectural verification.
Barrier or bollard?
A guardrail run is the right choice where you are protecting a line — a walkway edge, a rack run, a route between two work areas. Fixed steel barriers and rack-end protectors suit single points of impact. Most sites end up with both. The practical questions are traffic type and speed, floor construction (fixings need a slab that can take them), and whether the barrier also has to be a clear visual boundary for pedestrians, which affects colour and height.
