Large volume wardrobes and steel wardrobe cupboards
A large volume wardrobe is a tall, wide, full-height steel cupboard built for the things that defeat ordinary storage — kit bags, workwear, PPE sets, coiled hose, equipment cases, cleaning machinery. Where a standard slimline cupboard is roughly 380 mm deep and under a metre wide, a wardrobe-format unit is wider and deeper, so bulky items go in whole rather than being dismantled or stacked on the floor beside the cupboard.

Specifying a large volume cupboard

Check the door swing before the footprint. The doors open through 110°, so the clear space you need in front is roughly the door width plus a working allowance. In a tight aisle, a roller shutter cupboard may fit where a double-door wardrobe will not.

Measure the longest item, not the heaviest. At 1220 mm wide and 457 mm deep, the internal width is the constraint that most often decides whether a unit works.

Plan the interior. S00 arrives open. Decide up front whether you are fitting a hanging rail, shelves or racking, and whether you would rather order a fitted configuration.
