Roller-Bed Platforms

Roller-bed platforms take the pushing, dragging and carrying out of moving cartons and totes around a warehouse. Set boxes on free-running rollers and they glide between workstations, vehicles and pick faces — improving productivity and cutting the repetitive manual handling that drives strain injuries.

The GPC roller bed platform — UK-manufactured by GPC Industries — uses a versatile modular design built on powder-coated mild steel, multi-punched smoothline section frames. Rollers are 50 mm diameter with two duty options: free-running PVC rollers rated at 20 kg capacity, or heavy-duty bright zinc plated steel rollers rated at 80 kg per roller for heavier cartons and totes. Bright zinc plated steel stands support the bed at recommended 1,500 mm centres, and the same stands join multiple lengths into longer runs.

Because the system is modular, you can set beds dead level for push-along handling or at a slight decline for gravity feed — loads then move themselves towards the operator or the vehicle. Beyond straight runs, gate sections (for walk-through access), bends and ball transfer tables are available, along with other roller diameters, widths and pitches, so a run can be configured around an existing layout rather than the other way round.

Typical applications: van and container loading lines, packing benches, goods-in inspection, and linking workstations in light assembly. Pair a gravity run with a scissor lift table or pallet level loader to keep the working height constant at each end, and see the full access platforms and steps range for dock and vehicle access kit.
