Weigh-Scale Pallet Trucks

A pallet truck with scales is a hand pallet truck with load cells built into the forks, so every pallet is weighed at the moment it is lifted and the figure appears on a display on the tiller. Goods-in checks, despatch verification, stock counts and waste weights all happen where the pallet already is, without a floor scale or a trip to the weighbridge. Weigh scale pallet trucks we stock

We list one weighing truck, the GPC VULCAN Premium Weigh Scale Pallet Truck, in three configurations. The prices below are the live variant prices.

Two numbers fall straight out of that table. The 2,500 kg version costs £19.68 more than the standard 1,150 mm truck, and the 1,220 mm forks cost £63.84 more. Fork length is a pallet-fit decision and costs about three times what the capacity step does, so measure your pallets before paying for length. The listing states a rated capacity only for PWS1125; if you need a plated figure for the other two, ask us before ordering rather than assuming.

Specification, as published

All three configurations share the same published specification:

• Conforms to EN 1757-2; CE marked and plated.
• Weighing accuracy of ±0.1 %, displayed in 0.5 kg increments. At a 1,000 kg load that is a ±1 kg reading.
• Electronic lifting-height indication in the display.
• Fork width 160 mm; forks raise to 200 mm and lower to 85 mm.
• 180 × 50 mm polyurethane steering wheels and 74 × 70 mm tandem load rollers.
• Water- and dust-proof to IP65, with the load cells in the forks given the same level of protection. The truck can be used outside or on lorries and cleaned with water at normal pressure.
• Rechargeable batteries lasting 70–80 hours between charges; recharge from the mains in around four hours with the cable supplied.
• Compact, low-power components designed for mobile use.

Two things the listing does not publish, and which we will not guess at: the maximum weighing range of the scale as distinct from the truck's lifting capacity, and the display's resolution above and below the 0.5 kg increment. If either matters to your process, ask before you order.

Check-weighing or trade weighing?

This is the decision most buyers get wrong. A weigh scale pallet truck is a check-weighing tool: it tells you what a pallet weighs so you can verify a delivery, confirm a despatch, plan a vehicle load or record stock. The listing does not describe this truck as verified or approved for trade use, so if the weight will be the basis of a sale by weight, you should assume you need separately approved weighing equipment and take advice before relying on the truck's reading for that purpose. For everything internal, ±0.1 % in 0.5 kg steps is more accuracy than most goods-in and despatch processes ask for. Where a weighing truck earns its keep

The truck pays for itself where pallets are already being moved by hand and a weight is wanted for each one. Typical uses in the range's own terms:

• Goods-in — weigh each inbound pallet as it comes off the vehicle and compare it with the delivery note before it is put away.
• Despatch — confirm consignment weights for carrier bookings and vehicle load planning as pallets are staged.
• Stock and waste — count by weight for small parts, bulk material or waste streams where counting by hand is slow.
• Wet, cold and outdoor areas — IP65 protection and the ability to wash the truck down make it usable in food, cold-store and yard environments where a floor scale would not survive.

If pallets travel long distances or ramps are involved, a powered truck may be the better spend; the difference between this truck and our entry-level powered pallet trucks is small, and a weighing truck does nothing to reduce the effort of the pull. Choosing between the three configurations

Fork length. 1,150 mm forks suit a standard 1,200 × 1,000 mm GB pallet and a 1,200 × 800 mm Euro pallet entered from the 1,200 mm side; see UK pallet sizes explained if your pallets are non-standard. The 1,220 mm forks give an extra 70 mm of reach for longer pallets or deeper stillages, at the cost of a slightly larger turning envelope in tight aisles.

Capacity. If your heaviest pallets approach the limit of a standard hand truck, the 2,500 kg PWS1125 is the only configuration with a stated rating, and it costs £19.68 more than the unrated 1,150 mm truck. A truck working well inside its rating is easier to pull and keeps its accuracy longer.

Battery routine. With 70–80 hours between charges, a single-shift operation will charge roughly once a fortnight; a three-shift site should plan a charging slot every three to four days and keep the cable at a fixed point so the truck is not left flat.

Keeping the readings worth having

A weighing truck is a scale on wheels, and the same handling rules apply as for any manual pallet truck: lift the pallet clear of the floor on a level surface before reading, keep the load centred on the forks, and do not read while the truck is moving.
