A workbench at the wrong height is a slow injury. Height adjustable workbenches let you match the working surface to the user and the task — lower for heavy assembly where you push down, higher for fine work where you want the piece near your eyes — and re-set it when the user or the job changes.
The range
The Bott Verso Adjustable Height Framework Bench adjusts from 780 mm to 930 mm on a braced steel section frame, with widths from 700 mm to 2,000 mm and a choice of lino, multiplex or ESD worktops — the ESD option matters if you're handling static-sensitive electronics. A full-depth base shelf is optional, and variants with a drawer cabinet or full cupboard build storage into the same footprint.
For food, pharma and washdown environments, the GPC Stainless Steel Height Adjustable Bench runs from 900 mm to 1,800 mm lengths in 650 mm and 700 mm depths — stainless throughout, so it can be cleaned properly.
Getting the height right
The rule of thumb: elbow height for general bench work, 100–150 mm below elbow for heavy work, 100–200 mm above for precision tasks. If one bench serves several users across shifts, adjustability stops being a luxury and becomes the only way everyone works at a safe height.
