The Owner's Insights on the Bottom Emptying Skip
The whole point of a bottom emptying skip is that nothing has to be tipped. You lift it over the container, release the base, the contents drop straight down, and the base shuts itself when you set the skip back on the floor. No tipping, no swinging load, no operator reaching into anything.
Better still, the release bar can be connected to a chain and worked from the forklift seat. That means the driver empties it without getting out, which on a busy yard saves more time than it sounds and keeps someone out of the drop zone.
Stackable four high, which is the other half of the value. Empty skips normally occupy as much floor as full ones. These nest, so four skips take one skip's footprint between jobs.
Why You'll Love the Bottom Emptying Skip
- Bottom release mechanism: contents drop straight down, so nothing is tipped or swung at height.
- Forklift chain operation: the release bar connects to a chain so the driver empties it from the seat, out of the drop zone.
- Base closes automatically on lowering: no need to reset anything, the skip is ready for the next load.
- Stackable 4 high: four empty skips take one skip's floor space.
- 670mm fork pocket centres: standard spacing that most trucks handle without adjustment.
- CE marked and plated, UK manufactured: certified and made here.
Why You Should Consider a GPC Skip
The chain operation option is the detail that separates this from a basic drop-bottom skip. Being able to empty from the truck means the driver never dismounts beside a suspended load, which is the part a safety officer will care about.

Bottom emptying or tipping skip?
Bottom emptying suits discharging into a larger container, a bulk skip or a vehicle, because the contents drop vertically and the skip stays level throughout. A tipping skip rotates the load out, which is fine over a low wall or a heap but puts a swinging weight on the forks. If you are emptying into anything tall, bottom emptying is both quicker and safer.
Why does the chain option matter?
Without it, someone has to push the release bar by hand while the skip is raised, which means standing next to a suspended load. With a chain to the cab the driver does it from the seat. It costs nothing extra beyond the chain and it removes a person from under the load.
