A work platform stays put and gives you a flat working area at a set height, which suits a machine that needs attention in the same spot every week. Mobile steps move to the job and suit general access around a building. If you are reaching the same place repeatedly, a platform is safer and more comfortable than climbing steps each time.

Can you join platforms together?

Yes, that is the design intent. The units bolt to one another to create a larger continuous working area, so you can start with one and extend as the need grows.
