The Owner's Insights on the Fixed Gas Bottle Cage

This is the standard Grenadier cylinder cage and the one most sites should buy. Angle iron frame, mesh infill, retaining chain to hold the cylinders upright, padlock provision, and a base drilled for fixing points so you can bolt it down where it stands.

It does the same job as the pallet based version for less money. The only thing you give up is the ability to lift it with a forklift while loaded. For a gas compound that is staying put, that is not a feature you will miss.

Mesh infill is deliberate, not a cost saving. Compressed gas needs ventilation, and a solid-sided box is the wrong answer for cylinder storage however secure it looks.

Grenadier is GPC's heavy range, angle iron rather than folded sheet. For a cage holding compressed gas outdoors across a decade, frame section and galvanising decide whether it is still fit for service at the end of it. GPC manufacture in the UK and support the range directly.

Fixed Gas Bottle Cage Specifications

Fixed or pallet based?

This fixed version bolts down and stays. The pallet based CP6 range has forklift pockets so the cage can be lifted and relocated while still loaded, and costs more for that. If your gas compound is permanent, buy this one and spend the difference elsewhere.

Painted or galvanised?

Galvanised lasts considerably longer outdoors and is worth the premium anywhere exposed or coastal. Painted is fine under cover or in a sheltered yard. For permanent outdoor gas storage we would point you at galvanised, even though it is the dearer option.

Gas cylinder storage regulations in the UK

Compressed gas storage carries duties around security, ventilation, separation of incompatible gases, signage and keeping cylinders upright and restrained. This cage addresses security, ventilation, restraint and signage as supplied. Where you position it, and how far it needs to sit from buildings, boundaries and drains, depends on the gas and your site, and is a matter for your risk assessment and local fire authority. Delivery and unloading

A forklift is needed on site to unload. Let us know at the point of order if you do not have one and we will arrange delivery to suit.
