The Owner's Insights on the Drum Store
Six drums, 631 litres of containment, and three point locking on vented doors. This is the one for sites where the drums need to be outside and secure, and where somebody will eventually ask who has access to them.
Two details separate this from a plain steel box. The doors carry both high and low level venting, which is what you need for solvent vapour that sinks and for lighter vapour that rises. And the drums sit set back inside, leaving working space at the front to put a tap in and dispense without standing in the doorway.
It is 2250mm wide and weighs 220kg empty. Twenty-five day lead because it is built to order, and a forklift on site is not optional.
Why You'll Love the Drum Store
- Stores 6 drums with a 631 litre sump: a working quantity of stock with containment sized to match.
- High and low level door venting: clears both heavier-than-air and lighter-than-air vapour, which single-level venting does not.
- 3 point locking: secures the doors along their length rather than at one point, so they cannot be prised.
- Drums set back inside: leaves room at the front to dispense without working in the doorway.
- 3 year guarantee, UK manufactured: built here with a warranty behind it.
- Designed for outdoor use: intended to live outside permanently rather than under cover.
Why You Should Consider a GPC Drum Store
The venting arrangement is the part worth paying for. A lot of secure drum stores are effectively lockable sheds, and vapour builds up inside. High and low venting on the doors addresses that properly, and GPC back the range with a three year guarantee.

Drum store or open drum rack?
An open vertical or horizontal drum store contains spills and keeps weather off, and costs a fraction of this. You want the enclosed store when security is part of the requirement, when vapour needs controlling, or when the drums must be out of sight. If nobody is going to interfere with them, the open stores do the containment job perfectly well.
Why does the venting matter?
Solvent vapours are typically heavier than air and pool at floor level. Others rise. A store vented only at the top, or not at all, lets vapour accumulate, which is both a fire risk and a hazard to whoever opens the doors. High and low venting gives cross-flow through the whole enclosure.
How much containment do you need?
For oil stored in drums in England and Wales, GOV.UK guidance sets secondary containment at a minimum of one quarter of the combined capacity of the drums the containment can hold. At 631 litres across six drums, this store is well provisioned for 205 litre drums. Other substances and other UK nations have their own rules, so confirm with the Environment Agency or your local regulator, and call us on 020 3004 1152 if you want help working it out.
Delivery and installation
25 day lead time. A forklift is needed on site to unload. Decide the position before ordering: at 2250mm wide and 220kg empty, it is not something you reposition casually once the drums are in.
GPC Industries made-to-order: drum stores, Grenadier security cages, hazardous-substance cabinets, sheet and bar racks, smoking and cycle shelters, custom workbenches and bespoke configurations are built per order and typically delivered in 10–20 working days from order acceptance.
Larger units, oversized cages and project work may extend further. Lead time confirmed at order acceptance.
Delivered by UK pallet freight. Note: additional surcharges apply to Scottish Highlands, Islands and remote postcodes. For bulk orders or site-specific configurations, contact us.
Your product is covered by a 12 month Warranty or more if you opted for the extended warranty. Make sure you register your product.
