The Owner's Insights on the Horizontal Drum Store
This is the one to buy if people are actually drawing product off rather than just storing it. The drums lie on their side, you put a tap in the bung, and the 490 litre sump underneath catches the drips that always happen at the point of dispensing. Those drips are what ends up as a stain on the yard and a question at your next audit.
It stacks two high, which is the detail most buyers miss. If floor space is the constraint rather than budget, two of these stacked give you double the storage in the same 1645 x 1360mm footprint.
It is 175kg empty and 1900mm tall. If you are putting it under a low canopy or inside a container, measure first.
Why You'll Love the Horizontal Drum Store
- 490 litre sump capacity: nearly twice the volume of the vertical unit, catching dispensing drips across multiple drums.
- Stacks two high: doubles your drum capacity without taking another square metre of floor.
- Horizontal drum orientation: lets you fit a tap and draw off product without lifting or tipping anything.
- Enclosed on three sides: contains splash and keeps weather off the drums.
- 3 year guarantee, UK manufactured: built in Britain for outdoor service.
Why You Should Consider a GPC Drum Store
GPC Industries manufacture in the UK and back the drum range with a three year guarantee. For equipment that sits outside and carries a pollution risk if it corrodes through, that matters more than the sticker price. These are built to order on a 20 day lead rather than stocked, which is why the steel gauge is what it is.

Horizontal or vertical drum storage?
Horizontal is for dispensing. The drum lies on its side, a tap goes in the bung, and product comes off under gravity with no lifting. Vertical is for keeping drums safely until they are used whole. If your team is decanting into smaller containers through the week, horizontal pays for itself in spilled product alone.
What does the sump need to hold?
Secondary containment requirements in the UK vary by substance, quantity and location, and the rules differ across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This unit's sump holds 490 litres, stated so you can check it against your own site assessment. The Environment Agency or your local regulator can confirm what applies to you, and we are glad to talk options through on 020 3004 1152.
Delivery and unloading
Built to order on a 20 day lead time. A forklift is needed on site to unload. At 175kg empty this is not a two-person lift. Let us know at the point of order if you have no forklift and we will arrange the delivery accordingly.
GPC Industries made-to-order: drum stores, Grenadier security cages, hazardous-substance cabinets, sheet and bar racks, smoking and cycle shelters, custom workbenches and bespoke configurations are built per order and typically delivered in 10–20 working days from order acceptance.
Larger units, oversized cages and project work may extend further. Lead time confirmed at order acceptance.
Delivered by UK pallet freight. Note: additional surcharges apply to Scottish Highlands, Islands and remote postcodes. For bulk orders or site-specific configurations, contact us.
Your product is covered by a 12 month Warranty or more if you opted for the extended warranty. Make sure you register your product.
