The Owner's Insights on this Polyethylene Vault
A bunded enclosure rather than an open spill pallet. The drums sit inside, the roller shutter comes down, and the bund underneath is protected from rain. That last point does more work than people expect: an open sump outdoors fills with rainwater and has no capacity left for the spill it was bought for.
Polyethylene throughout means no corrosion from the inside, which is where steel bunds fail. Roller shutters mean no door swing, so it fits against a wall or in a run of other equipment.
Seven day lead. Keep it clear of forklift traffic, because plastic takes a knock less well than steel does.
Why You'll Love this Polyethylene Vault
- Roller shutter doors: open upward and clear, so you lose no floor space to a door swing.
- Polyethylene throughout: resists the chemicals that corrode steel bunds from the inside out.
- Enclosed bund: keeps rainwater out so the containment volume stays available when it is needed.
- Lockable enclosure: drums are out of sight and out of reach rather than standing open in a yard.
- 7 day lead time: quick to get on site compared with built-to-order steel units.
Why You Should Consider a GPC Vault
GPC stock both steel and polyethylene containment and will point you at the right material for what you are storing. They state compliance with the oil storage regulations for England on this range, which is worth confirming in writing for your own compliance file.

How much containment does the law require?
GOV.UK guidance for oil stored in drums in England and Wales states secondary containment must hold at least a quarter of the drum's capacity, or a quarter of the combined capacity where several drums are held. The 110 per cent figure commonly quoted applies to fixed tanks, not drums. Other substances and other UK nations may differ, so check your own position with the Environment Agency and call us on 020 3004 1152 if you want help matching a unit to your volumes.
Which configuration is this?
GPC offer three: two 250 litre drums upright, four 250 litre drums upright, and a shelved version. Call 020 3004 1152 to confirm the configuration before ordering. We would rather spend two minutes on the phone than have you take delivery of a vault that does not fit your drums.
Why does keeping rain out matter?
An open bund outdoors collects rainwater. Once it is part full, the containment capacity you are relying on is not there any more, and the water itself becomes contaminated waste you have to pay to remove. An enclosed vault avoids both problems.
GPC Industries made-to-order: drum stores, Grenadier security cages, hazardous-substance cabinets, sheet and bar racks, smoking and cycle shelters, custom workbenches and bespoke configurations are built per order and typically delivered in 10–20 working days from order acceptance.
Larger units, oversized cages and project work may extend further. Lead time confirmed at order acceptance.
