The Owner's Insights on the Hydraulic Straddle Stacker

The straddle legs are the whole point of this one. They open from 210mm to 800mm over the forks, so instead of sliding under a pallet the stacker stands over the load with a leg either side. That is what lets you lift something that is already pushed against a wall, or a drum, or a base that is not a standard pallet width.

In practice it is the stacker you buy when the fixed fork version has already let you down once. Someone tries to lift a non-standard load, the forks do not reach the bearers, and the job stops. The adjustable version takes a few seconds to set the width and then handles it.

Be realistic about the footprint. It is 1,100mm to 1,370mm wide with the legs set, against 740mm for the fixed fork model. In a tight aisle that is the difference between turning and not turning. Measure before you order. It is also a manual pump at 1,000 kg, so it is for occasional lifts rather than all day cycling.

Which lift height should you choose?

Measure to the underside of the beam you are loading and add your pallet height. The 1,600mm model suits a single extra level. The 2,500mm covers most two-level racking. The 3,000mm reaches a third level.

One thing to check first. The 2,500mm lift model is the shortest when closed, at 1,770mm, while both the 1,600mm and 3,000mm models stand 2,020mm. If the stacker has to pass under a low shutter or doorway, the middle model may be the only one that fits, even though it lifts higher than the entry model.

How much aisle width do you need?

With the legs set the unit is 1,100mm to 1,370mm wide and 1,420mm deep. For a comfortable turn you want roughly double the depth as clear aisle. If your aisles are under 2,500mm, measure properly before ordering, or look at the fixed fork version at 740mm wide instead.

Straddle or fixed fork?

Take the straddle version if your loads are not all standard pallets, or if you regularly need to lift something sitting against a wall. Take the fixed fork version if every load is a standard pallet and your aisles are tight, because it is narrower and cheaper. What does it need on delivery?

Heavy, and it arrives on a pallet. You will need a forklift, or a tail lift and a pallet truck, to take it off the vehicle. Lead time is 7 days.
