BUTT

BUTT

BUTT manufactures aluminium loading ramps and rails for getting wheeled and tracked plant on and off vehicles and trailers. KC Supply supplies the BUTT range in the UK.

Type AVS aluminium loading rails

The Type AVS rails are built for light to medium-heavy vehicles on pneumatic tyres — construction machinery, garden equipment, lawn tractors and, with the appropriate surface specification, rubber-tracked and steel-chain machines. The driving surface is a closed, non-slip aluminium profile, so the load has grip across the full width rather than on open rungs.

Rails are supplied to comply with the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association rules on ramp gradient, which cap the working gradient at 30% (16.5°). That number does the sizing for you: the higher the deck, the longer the rails have to be. Rails must be secured in position before use to prevent them slipping off the deck under load.

Configurations

  • With support tongue
  • Suspended installation
  • With pipe connection for 60-series shaft
  • Centrally foldable with support foot
  • Two-part rails with separate foot
  • Optional protective edge versions

Custom dimensions are available on request, so rails can be matched to a specific deck height and track width rather than compromised around a stock length.

Choosing loading rails

Three numbers decide the specification: the loaded weight of the machine, the deck height you are climbing to, and the track width of the wheels or tracks. Gradient follows from deck height and rail length — work it out before ordering, because an over-steep ramp is the most common cause of a grounding or a slip. Then decide whether you need a protective edge (worth it where an operator is steering a narrow machine) and whether the rails need to fold for storage on the vehicle.
