Covered drum storage keeps the weather off drums stored outside. The GPC Covered Drum Storage System (PSP21Z) takes two 205-litre drums under a moulded cover, is made from 100% recyclable polyethylene, and is compatible with most forklifts — so the unit can be lifted and repositioned around the yard as the store area changes.
Why cover outdoor drums
An uncovered drum outside collects rainwater on its top. As the drum warms and cools it breathes through the bungs, and standing water gets drawn in with it — contaminating oil and giving corrosive liquids a path to attack the drum head. A covered store solves this simply: drums stay accessible for storage and dispensing, but rain never reaches them. Polyethylene construction also means no rust and no repainting, and it stands up to oils and many chemicals — check compatibility for aggressive substances.
Covered, enclosed or open?
Covered storage protects from weather; it doesn't lock. Where site security matters — or you want ventilated, fully screened storage — step up to the fully enclosed drum stores with 3-point locking in vertical and horizontal formats. Inside a building, open vertical and horizontal drum stores do the job without the cover. Our covered & enclosed drum stores guide compares the formats in detail.
Containment rules apply outdoors too — the bund serving the store must hold 110% of the largest container or 25% of the total, whichever is greater. See our guide to storing oil drums safely, the spill containment range, and the full drum storage collection.
