What WSM shelters are for
Anything left uncovered outside pays for it eventually: rust on steel stock, water in machinery, degraded packaging, timber that warps. A tarpaulin slows that down but tears, traps moisture underneath and looks temporary because it is. A WSM shelter puts a fixed roof over the same footprint, keeps the yard tidy and takes up very little more ground than the material it protects. Typical uses are building materials, machinery and plant, trolleys and shopping carts, and waste or bin storage.
Build and corrosion protection
WSM shelters are solid steel structures with hot-dip galvanising and industrial-grade paint finishes, specified to a minimum C4 (medium) corrosion protection class — the category used for coastal and industrial atmospheres with significant salt or pollutant loading. Integrated water management carries rain off the roof and away from the stored goods rather than dumping it at the shelter edge. Installation is designed to be quick and straightforward compared with a built structure.
Choosing a shelter
Work from the load, not the roof. Measure the largest item that has to go under cover, add room for the handling equipment that puts it there — a pallet truck needs less clearance than a counterbalance forklift — and size the shelter to that. Then check ground conditions and fixing, prevailing wind direction, and whether you need the shelter open on all sides for access or partly clad for weather protection.
