Forklift safety cages let a fork lift truck do two jobs it was never fitted out for as standard: raising a person for occasional access work, and lifting loose goods securely. Man cages for occasional access work
The Standard Fork Lift Safety Cage (FLC01Z, or FLC11Y in mobile form) and the Heavy Duty Fork Lift Safety Cage (FLC02Z–FLC04Z, each with a mobile option) are working platforms that locate on the forks of a lift truck, enclosing the occupant with full-height sides and a gate. The heavy-duty range runs to three sizes, so you can match the platform to the truck and the task. Mobile versions add castors so the cage can be wheeled to the racking aisle or plant room where it's needed, rather than carried.
One honest note on use: HSE guidance treats non-integrated working platforms on forklifts as suitable for occasional, unplanned work at height only — stocktaking checks, changing a light fitting, clearing a blocked sensor — not as a routine substitute for a proper access platform. Goods lift cages
The Grenadier Economy Fork Lift Cage (FLC08Z) is for loads, not people: fully welded mild steel, forged lifting eyes, fork guides, a 1,000 kg load capacity and gas struts on the roof. Cages stack up to four high, and the roof and gates accept a padlock (not supplied), so the same unit doubles as secure storage between lifts — closely related to our storage cages range.
Choosing between them
If a person is going up, it must be a man-riding safety cage — never a goods cage. If it's stock, tooling or waste going up to a mezzanine or down from racking, the Grenadier goods cage is the cheaper, stackable answer. Not sure which fits your trucks?
