What door counts are available in single width?

1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 compartments per column. There is no single-width 5, 8, 10, 12 or 16-door locker in the Probe range we stock — those door counts are only available as double-width or triple-width banks.

Can I get a solid-door single-width locker?

No. Every single-column Probe locker we list is a vision panel unit with a reinforced acrylic window in each door, or a PowerBox charging locker. The perforated range is triple width only, and the Standard Metric and Standard Imperial ranges are double and triple width throughout. If a solid door is a firm requirement, you need a two-column bank.

What is the difference between a tier, a nest and a bank?

A tier is one compartment level in a column, so a 3 tier locker and a 3 door locker are the same thing. A nest is the number of columns joined side by side — a nest of two is a double-width unit. A bank is the assembled unit as delivered. The trap is that door count is quoted per column: a 10 door double width locker has twenty compartments, not ten.

Is single width cheaper than double width?

Cheaper per unit, dearer per compartment. The cheapest single-width compartment on this page is £84.27 (6 tier at 300 × 300 mm, flat top); a Standard Metric 10-tier double-width bank works out at £52.89 per compartment. That is 59% more for the single-column format. You are buying a narrow footprint, not a lower unit price.

How much does a sloping top add?

A flat £24.77 per column, confirmed across thirty matched flat-and-sloping pairs in this format. Because the fee is fixed and the compartment count is not, it works out at £4.13 per compartment on a 6-tier column and the whole £24.77 on a 1-tier one.

Single Width Lockers

A single-width locker is one column of compartments — one vertical stack, one narrow footprint. It is the format to specify where floor space is tight: beside a doorway, in a corridor recess, at the end of a bench run, or anywhere a full two-column bank will not fit.

Tier, nest and bank — get the vocabulary right before you compare prices

Locker suppliers use three words loosely, and the difference between them is the difference between a fair price comparison and a bad one:

Tier — the number of compartments stacked vertically in one column. A "3 tier locker" and a "3 door locker" are the same thing.
Nest — the number of columns joined side by side. A nest of two is a double-width unit; a nest of three is a triple width.
Bank — the assembled unit as delivered, however many columns it contains.

The trap is that door count is quoted per column, not per unit. A "10 door double width" locker has ten compartments in each of two columns — twenty compartments, not ten. If a competitor quotes you a price against a door count, establish whether they mean tiers or total compartments before you compare it to anything. By that vocabulary, everything on this page is a single-column nest: one tier stack, no shared uprights, one bank.

What is actually available in single width

This is narrower than the range as a whole, and it is worth being precise about:

Door counts: 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 per column. There is no single-width 5, 8, 10, 12 or 16-door locker in the Probe range we stock.
Doors: vision panel only. Every single-column Probe locker we list carries a reinforced acrylic vision panel in each door. There is no solid-door and no perforated-door single-width locker — the perforated range is triple width only, and the Standard Metric and Standard Imperial ranges are double and triple width throughout.
Tops: flat or sloping, both available at every door count.
Sizes: 300 mm wide at 300, 380 or 450 mm deep, plus a wide format at 380 or 450 mm wide.

So if you need a single column of solid-door lockers, that is not something the Probe range offers. Your single-column options are a vision panel unit or a PowerBox charging locker. Better to know that at survey stage than at quotation — and if the window is unacceptable for a staff changing area, the answer is a two-column bank from the Standard Metric range rather than a single-column one.

What single width costs

Because a single column has no shared uprights or end panels to spread across a second stack, the cost per compartment is high. At 300 × 300 mm, flat top:
